Question 1

How much does it usually cost to fix a dent on a car?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the size, depth, location and number of dents. Paintless dent repair is usually much cheaper than a traditional body shop because there is no sanding, filler or repainting. The fastest way to get an exact price is to text photos of the dent to Pete at (863) 488-3761 for a free estimate.

Question 2

What dents cannot be removed?

Accepted Answer

Paintless dent repair works best when the paint is intact. Dents with cracked or chipped paint, very sharp creases that have stretched the metal, and dents on the very edge of a panel or on heavily reinforced areas can be difficult or impossible to fix without paint work. Pete will tell you honestly whether PDR will work when he sees your photos.

Question 3

Can small dents be popped out?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Small dents and door dings are the ideal job for paintless dent repair. Pete uses specialized tools to work the metal back into shape from behind the panel, so the factory paint stays untouched. Home tricks like plungers or heat can crack paint or make the dent worse, so it is best to let a professional handle it.

Question 4

How much will it cost to get a small dent out of a car?

Accepted Answer

Small dents and door dings are the most affordable repairs, and most take under an hour. Pricing depends on the size and where the dent is on the panel. Send Pete a few photos from different angles and he will give you an honest, no-pressure quote.

Question 5

Are really small dents in cars worth fixing?

Accepted Answer

Usually yes. Small dents are quick and inexpensive to remove, and fixing them helps protect your vehicle's appearance and resale or trade-in value. Dents also tend to collect more dings over time, so repairing them early keeps the repair simple.

Question 6

Is a car dent covered by insurance?

Accepted Answer

Often it is, if you have comprehensive coverage and the damage comes from something like hail, a falling branch or vandalism. Dents from a collision or a parking lot ding may fall under collision coverage or not be covered at all. Check your policy, and Pete can give you a written estimate to help with a claim.

Question 7

Will boiling water pop out a dent?

Accepted Answer

Boiling water only works occasionally, and only on flexible plastic bumpers. It does not work on metal panels like doors, fenders, hoods and roofs, and the heat can damage your paint. For metal panels, paintless dent repair is the safe method.

Question 8

Is it worth claiming insurance for a dent?

Accepted Answer

Often not for small dents. Many door dings and minor dents cost less than a typical insurance deductible, and a claim can affect your premium. Hail damage with many dents across several panels is different, and a claim often makes sense. Pete can give you an estimate so you can compare it to your deductible.

Question 9

What are the downsides of paintless dent repair?

Accepted Answer

PDR cannot fix every dent. Damaged or cracked paint, very sharp creases and dents in hard-to-reach spots may need traditional body work. For most dents with intact paint, though, PDR is faster, cheaper and keeps your original factory finish, which is why many owners prefer it.
